When you choose WestieWear™, you’re not just buying a garment — you’re joining our pack. We are building a community of crocheters and dog lovers that value connection, craft, and the companionship we share with our pets.

WestieWear™ was inspired by four West Highland Terriers who have been founder Kimberly Jo DeVault through many seasons of her life. In 2007, Fergie and Dudley were by her side when she learned to crochet her first scarf while recovering from surgery.

What began as a healing pastime grew into a craft of solace and strength. Nearly 20 years later, Kimberly Jo crochet’s with Murphy and Josie by her side as she launched WestieWear™ in the fall of 2025. While its foundation centers around custom garments that tell a story, WestieWear’s purpose is rooted in connection; connection between the crafters who stitch each garment by hand, and the bond between companion animals and the people who love them.

The “WestieWear™ Why”

A Message From Kimberly Jo

WestieWear was born from a desire to create something meaningful. Something that brought together my creative expression through crocheting, my love of dogs, and connection.

What began as a simple act of crocheting sweaters for my own dogs quickly became something much bigger: a way to bring warmth, joy, and purpose into the world.

One moment stands out. A woman going through cancer treatment was gifted a WestieWear sweater for her dog — the same dog who had been by her side through every round of chemo. During our consultation, I told her I’d share progress videos as I made it. She smiled and said, “Oh! I feel like a celebrity!” That moment reminded me of why I’m doing this.

WestieWear isn’t just about handmade garments. It’s about creating moments of comfort and connection — for both pets and people.

I’m now building what I call The Craft Pack: a community of women who crochet not only for income, but for purpose. Together, we’re creating pieces that bring happiness to dog parents, while finding fulfillment in knowing that we are engaging in meaningful work.

Every sweater tells a story — and every story will serve as continued reminders of the “WestieWear™ Why.”
